Jamie Commando is a Boulder, Colorado–based artist working at the intersection of ceramics and mixed media. With a background in woodworking, metalworking, and public art, Jamie brings a multidisciplinary approach to their practice. In 2020, she discovered ceramics and quickly fell in love with the material’s balance of function, process, and expressive potential.
Jamie currently creates functional ceramic work, such as vessels and lamp bases, while reintroducing woodworking into her practice, allowing the two disciplines to inform and elevate one another. Surface decoration plays an important role in her work, often drawing inspiration from natural forms, textures, and landscapes. In recognition of her evolving practice, Jamie was featured in Boulder Magazine in February 2026 as a maker to watch.
In addition to her studio practice, Jamie teaches ceramic classes and actively incorporates mixed media techniques into her instruction. Through both teaching and making, she is committed to exploring material boundaries, sharing technical knowledge, and fostering creative experimentation within functional and sculptural forms.
